Do you think it is possible to change one’s mindset?  Yes! All things are possible with our Anti-Suicide Team!

The Anti-Suicide and Success Seminar that was held in St.Anne’s Degree College on the 24th of  January 2014 proved that our seminars not only help STOP SUICIDE but the reality of our seminars CHANGE THE MINDSETS of youngsters that are prone to depression, pain, failure  finally leading people to  commit suicide. We had an audience of 400 students for this seminar.

DO NOT DESTROY YOUR BABY PURPOSE

Young girls almost misunderstood before they understood the,’PURPOSE AND POTENTIAL’ that Mr. Edmonds; the President was teaching during his first session of 60 mins due to their skeptical mindsets. He made them understand that each one were born with a purpose and with an inbuilt ability called potential and encouraged the students that life circumstances should not be permitted to KILL that purpose each were born for! Making statements like,’IF MOTHER TERESA HAD GIVEN UP BECAUSE OF LOVE FAILURE……India would have never experienced her compassion towards the down trodden, poor and leprous people’, then,’DO NOT ALLOW LIFE CHALLENGES TO KILL YOUR BABY PURPOSE’,’DO NOT GO TO THE GRAVEYARD WITHOUT FULLY USING YOUR POTENTIAL’ caused a shaking in their skeptically molded minds bringing about true transformation.

EVERY HUMAN BEING WANTS TO BE LOVED!
Mrs. Joanna Owhorode who is also the Co-president conducted a very wonderful analytical session for about 90mins that practically helped students to understand their mindsets and realize their weaknesses and deal with it to develop a strong mentality.  The workshop taught students how to response to life circumstances rightly. She gave her own real life examples to make students understand the importance of having the right mindset and a strong mentality. 

Touching statements like,’NO ONE HATES LOVE’, LOVE IS A LIFESTYLE…not just a boyfriend/girl friend thing’, ‘BE STRONG EMOTIONALLY’ were spoken. Students were touched  to hear her say that when ‘you’ walk in love ‘YOUR’ life and the lives of people around is changed causing a positive impact on the society , thus INSPIRING people to live and not destroy their valuable and beautiful life.

CATCHY MOMENT
One of the students who responded with a question was asked by Mr. Edmonds if she has ever loved anyone. The girl hastily answered saying, ‘NO WAY ….I don’t love anyone, then quickly Mr. Edmonds responded to her saying, ’your answer is not true’, the girl was shocked at his response and looked embarrassed in front of hundreds of students,  but before she could think further,

Mr. Edmonds quickly asked her, ’Don’t you love your Father and Mother?’, the girl loudly laughed answering, ’Yes I LOVE ONLY my Mother a lot!’.At this point; her mindset that the word ‘LOVE’ applies to boyfriend/girl friend ONLY was openly corrected after which the student immediately confessed that her mindset about the word ‘LOVE” has changed today truly with a broad smile!
This was one among the many, live demonstration of a CHANGED MINDSET!

FUN PACKED SESSION

The program started at 9:30am and went on for a period of two hours. It was inaugurated with a prayer song from the college followed by our Anti Suicide Anthem titled ‘world changer’. Edmonds Owhorode the president, presented a lively fun packed seminar for 40mins where he emphasised on ‘Knowing our identity’ and ‘Discovering our potentials’ through various real life examples and experiences. He made outstanding statements like, “TRUE LOVE WILL NOT KILL but help someone live!”, “FRIENDS ARE LIKE ELEVATORS they can take one up or bring down, but true friends are those who will help you reach your goal in life”. Students responded with questions that they face emotionally, academically and mentally in various aspects of their life which were answered by Edmonds and Joanna Owhorode.

BRAIN STORMING SESSION

This session of the seminar was taken up by Joanna Owhorode the co-president, which was a Brain Storming Analysis session helping the students analyse their mind set and negative lifestyles, thereby re-programming their mind with the right information causing them to take the right decision towards life challenges. Joanna emphasised on how to cultivate a strong thinking pattern using real life example and with workshop sessions. Teaching students that SUICIDE IS A SELFISH ACT because the victim does not think about others and only themselves; this was a very enlightening truth that helped the students to make a strong decision not to come to any situation where suicide becomes an option out. They decide to live and not to kill themselves.

FACULTY AND STUDENTS WERE OVERWHELMED 

The faculty & students were overwhelmed at the impact of the seminar it had on their lives. They appreciated and thanked the speakers for conducting such practical life changing seminars. Some students when interviewed revealed that they had suicidal tendencies but the seminar helped them to make a strong decision never to commit suicide! Instead stand for life and inspire others to live. 

 Finally the program finished at 12:15pm that rounded off with a touching Anti Suicide song titled, 
‘I NEED YOU, YOU NEED ME’.
